Tragedy late yesterday evening in Escalaplano. Two people died in a road accident and two others were seriously injured.

From initial information, they were all traveling in the same car which crashed into the wall of a house in Corso Sardegna.

Silvio Pispisa, a 57-year-old native of the town, and his 40-year-old partner, of Colombian origin Anna Isabella Fratellanza, lost their lives in the crash.

The man, who lived in Verona, was on the island to spend his holidays. The family was returning from the sea after a Sunday spent in the Costa Rei area.

The two children aged 11 and 7, the woman's children, were injured and were rescued and transported in code red by helicopter to the hospital in Sassari.

They are in intensive care at the Santissima Annunziata hospital in Sassari: according to the latest information their lives are not in danger but they suffered multiple fractures in the crash and will have to undergo some operations. They are now followed by the psychologists of the Aou of Sassari.

The Escalaplano carabinieri, the Cagliari firefighters and the 118 ambulances intervened on site.
