Raffaele Manca, former mayor of Norbello, former regional councilor and former deputy, died today at the Santissima Annunziata hospital in Sassari: last Thursday he was involved in a serious accident while driving a tractor in the countryside of Domusnovas Canales, a hamlet of the his country. While returning from the countryside towards the town, along a local road, due to a sudden swerve, the vehicle overturned: Manca, 80 years old, had been thrown to the ground and had lost consciousness.

The blow had been violent: the transfer by air ambulance had been immediate, but attempts to save his life unfortunately proved to be in vain.

Manca was mayor of Norbello from 1985 to 1992. From 1990 to 1995 he was in the regional council and then held the position of parliamentarian from 1994 to 1996, elected to the Chamber.

For several years he had been at the head of the Committee born in defense of hospitals and health in the area, with which he leads a tough battle for the protection of Delogu and health services. It was also part of the medieval historical group of Norbello. He had been working for some time on a project to enhance the archaeological site of Castel di Sella and the church of Santa Vittoria, near the place where the accident occurred.

Some time ago he had bought the land and for about a year the tractor he was driving on Thursday.
