It was a tragedy to take the life of a young Polish tourist, on holiday in Sardinia, on 20 July. She drowned on the beach of Is Arenas , in the municipality of Narbolia, on a mistral day, with complicated sea conditions.

To try to save her Victor, a young 17-year-old surfer, who had brought her to shore after finding her in the waves. The boy, however, together with his father, had reported serious delays in the rescue which, according to them, arrived after about an hour and a half . A thesis which, however, is strongly denied by Areus (Regional Company for Emergency Urgency).

«The emergency call», Areus replies, «received the Operations Center at 18.10 and the ambulance with nurses on board “India” stationed in Is Arenas was immediately activated and at the same time the air ambulance arriving from Alghero. From the moment the Center answered the distress call», adds the Company, « the first vehicle arrived at the site of the event in 14 minutes, in line with national standards (20 minutes). Once on site, the 118 team performed resuscitation maneuvers. But for the woman there was nothing to be done. The air ambulance doctor was only able to ascertain his death.

«The Management of Areus», he concludes, «is keen to remind you that, thanks to the 2023 summer upgrade, for the first time in Is Arenas the station of the company's Advanced Rescue Vehicle (INDIA), not present in previous years, is active. The activity of summer medical watch and sea rescue does not fall within the competence of Areus ».
