An elderly woman was beaten and robbed in her home in Sassari: money and jewelry were stolen.

A robbery occurred around 5 a.m. in the Sant'Orsola neighborhood of Sassari . On Via Sette Fratelli, in the Villaggio I Gelsi apartment building, one or more unknown individuals entered the home occupied by an 85-year-old woman.

The woman discovered the intruders, who had apparently entered the bedroom through the window, and they allegedly grabbed her. According to initial reports, the thieves tore off the victim's necklace and pulled her hair, demanding money and jewelry from her before fleeing.

The 85-year-old, who lives alone, called the police and the State Police patrol cars arrived on the scene.

The Flying Squad is currently investigating the incident. The woman was not hospitalized; she remained at home cared for by her children.
