On National Unity and Armed Forces Day, the mayor of Olbia, Settimo Nizzi, presented a certificate to the Carabinieri of the Olbia department "for the brilliant operation conducted on October 28, 2026, which led to the arrest of the person presumed responsible for the very serious news story that occurred the previous day ," in Corso Umberto, where a man, Pietro Sciusco, was stabbed to death.

Nizzi expressed his deep gratitude "for the promptness and effectiveness of the chosen action, which confirms the high sense of duty, dedication to public service, and the constant presence of the Carabinieri in protecting the safety of citizens."

Receiving the certificate this morning was the commander of Olbia's territorial unit, Nicola Pilia, who said: "We are proud to receive this expression of esteem. We will always be available to the citizens of Olbia and Gallura." On this occasion, the mayor reiterated that "the city and its society are safe: these incidents, even though the latest one is very serious, are the result of very limited issues, but we have no criminal organizations that lead us to fear that the city could fall into the hands of those engaging in illegal behavior that could jeopardize our safety."
