On a proposal from the Giunta, the regional council , in its meeting on August 1st, approved the allocation of one million euros in favor of the industrial consortium of macomer for the start-up of the composting plant , necessary for the treatment of organic waste from all northern Sardinia.

This is a large sum, which however cannot be disbursed immediately. However, the industrial consortium will advance the sums, in order to allow Tossilo Spa (a company emanating from the same consortium, which manages the Tossilo waste platform), to be able to operate.

"We are ready to start the composting plant even immediately after August 15 - says the president of Tossilo Spa, Antonio Delitala - the Region has recognized the company to spend public resources well, according to the laws of the State".

The regional councilor for the environment, Marco Porcu , writes in a brief note: «These are resources identified by this councilorship, in concert with that of industry and labour, which are added to the previous allocation with which they were made safe the workers, which will allow all the necessary measures to be put in place for the restart of the industrial activity, guaranteeing the orderly management of the organic fraction in northern Sardinia. A first step for the protection and productivity of plants built with public resources and for the development of a strategic area for the island ».

The start-up of the composting plant allows the workers, currently employed by the Municipalities of Macomer and Borore, to be able to return to work before the beginning of September , given that the agreement with the regional Work.

However, bankruptcy looms over Tossilo Spa, requested by the Public Prosecutor of Oristano, for the appeal made by a service provider. The company is weighed down by a fearful debt (7 million and 600 thousand euros), accumulated over the last seven years of inactivity.

The judges will decide in the hearing, again set for October 4th.
