Oscar-winning actress Whoopi Goldberg leaves Stintino and moves to Ortigia, a renowned location in Syracuse.

The decision was made just as Mayor Rita Vallebella was about to present her with the honorary citizen of Stintino plaque. "We're disappointed," the mayor said, "also because the actress had made wild statements about our area, expressing enthusiasm for the place, saying she felt at home and had found a corner of paradise."

Her words convinced the mayor, so much so that she wanted to award her honorary citizenship of the tourist village. The actress from the film "Sister Act" enthusiastically accepted, but then chose Sicily instead, putting her luxurious home in Pischina Salidda, a splendid seaside village in the northwest of the island, up for sale for €12 million .

"Here I found extraordinary privacy," the movie star said, referring to Stintino. " He even said he couldn't wait to meet me," adds Rita Vallebella, "but then, without any kind of communication, he snubbed us."

The decision to award the plaque to the American star was made when the actress spoke of her great passion for Stintino . The municipality sent an email inviting Goldberg to attend a private ceremony for the citizenship award. The response was emphatic. "The way she made other choices wasn't very tactful , but we're not offended," the mayor concluded.
