The Sardinia Science and Technology Park plans its future between technological innovation, environmental sustainability and attention to health and well-being. Tomorrow the Park will be at the center of a study day where experts and institutions will take stock of the projects and activities to be carried out, as well as what has been done in the past. The appointment is for Thursday 20 June, from 10:00 at the former tobacco factory in Cagliari, with the conference “20 years of the future. The scientific and technological park of Sardinia". The regional Councilor for Programming Giuseppe Meloni will also participate in the event.
Born in 2003 from the joint commitment of the Autonomous Region of Sardinia and the European Union, the Park - inaugurated by the two Nobel Prize winners Rita Levi Montalcini and Carlo Rubbia - is a system of advanced infrastructures, services for innovation, for industrialization of research as well as an incubator for startups, tenders and projects. A complex but solid galaxy managed by Sardegna Ricerche. The Park is made up of four centres: the headquarters in Pula (Cagliari) which hosts the 10Lab dissemination centre, the CRS4, the rapid prototyping laboratory, the Biomed platform and various companies; Porto Conte Ricerche in Alghero (Sassari); the Macchiareddu branch specialized in renewable energy and the International Marine Center of Torregrande (Oristano).
During the conference, two new projects linked to the science park will be presented: “The DNA of the Sardinians: a development opportunity for the island” by Francesco Cucca, professor at the University of Sassari and CNR, and “The 'Valle del Well-Being': an ecosystem of skills, technologies and innovative services for Well-Being and Environmental Sustainability" by Alberto Sanna, director of the Center for Advanced Technology in Health & Wellbeing of the San Raffaele Hospital in Milan. During the works, the documentary dedicated to the first 20 years of the Park, created on the initiative of Sardegna Ricerche, will be screened and, finally, after a focus on the CRS4, the Biomedicine and renewable energy laboratories will be presented.
«In a world that is transforming more and more rapidly, it becomes difficult to understand which direction the future will go. The Sardinia Science and Technology Park, however, does not want to chase change, it wants to determine it. In a liquid present, the horizon of our tomorrow remains firm: innovation that does not forget tradition, technological transfer and environmental sustainability", highlighted Maria Assunta Serra, general director of Sardegna Ricerche.
