Coming from Fonni, yet another cry of anger and desperation from health service users.

The spokesperson was Giovannanna Cualbu, 62 years old, describing the hardships experienced by her husband, Mario Coccollone (68), who has been suffering from Alzheimer's for 15 years and forced to eat through the use of "PEG".

For Coccollone, assisted in the dietetics department of the Zonchello hospital in Nuoro, the chaos began after the specialist in charge of nutritional plans was transferred to Olbia.

«For two months – explains Giovannina Cualbu – I became aware that the department lacked the dietician who supported my husband and many other patients who experience his delicate condition. If before I went to the district pharmacy once a month, picking up the appropriate nutritional table, today I am forced to do so every ten days".

«The drama – continues Cadau – belongs to the whole family. We are facing countless sacrifices, finding ourselves with the same diet, which has remained unchanged since the doctor's last support. These inconveniences are leading us to exhaustion."

On the same front, the mayor Daniela Falconi: «It is important that Mario and all those who face his difficulties are supported. We ask the ASL for prompt intervention in the case."

In the meantime, reassurances arrive from Alfonso Gigante, director of Diabetology: «From next June 3, the new specialist, Dr. Veronica Sirigu, will take over, who will support Mr. Coccollone and all the patients. In full synergy with the district pharmacy which will provide nutritional plans periodically."
