That brand with two oxen, a plow and the symbols of the stele of Bolei cannot be used.

This is supported by Red Bull , the Austrian multinational which is contesting the logo of their wine deposited in the patent office against the small Muggittu Boeli winery in Mamoiada: too similar to that of the multinational .

A logo that presents two oxen in a bucolic attitude, with the red sign of the plow underneath and the representation of the circles of the Boeli stele above.

However, the very young cellar of Mattia Muggittu , a 23-year-old from Mamoia, is ready to give battle: «Our logo is a logo that is the result of the millenary tradition of Sardinia, which has no masters», said Mattia alongside his father Peppino.

Coldiretti is also ready to support the regions of the Muggittu winery.

The dispute came in September when the trademark application was published in the national bulletin. In fact, in September the multinational, through a law firm in Turin, sent a certified email claiming that the Muggittu brand cannot be used, it is "mistakeable".

But Muggittu studied the logo as a tribute to the winemaking traditions of Mamoiada and to the geographical area that gives substance to their wine: the label wants to depict the oxen used in plowing and above the signs of the stele of Bolei, a megalith dating back to 3500 BC

All this is explained to Red Bull which, however, does not back down and in December presents an application for opposition to the registration of the trademark. Now the national patent office will decide.

The two companies, the small Muggittu Boeli winery and Red Bull, now have two months to find a reconciliation.
