Good news for the workers and the local economy: the dispute involving the employees of the Calzedonia and Intimissimi stores has ended positively with the rehiring of the workers involved. After two months of closure and the simultaneous dismissal of 12 employees, the two stores of the Le Vele Shopping Center will reopen to the public.
The news was announced by Cristiano Ardau, regional secretary of UilTucs and a key figure in the management of the negotiations, who expressed satisfaction with the result achieved: "We have obtained a concrete and positive solution. The protection of the workers was our priority and we have managed to guarantee their employment continuity without penalties. It is an important outcome both from a human point of view and for the protection of employment levels in the territory. The stores will be managed directly by the brand, which will provide for the reinstatement of all the staff".
The dispute, which landed on the table of the Department of Labor, arose following an internal reorganization that had put 12 jobs at risk. Thanks to constant dialogue between the parties and the intervention of the union representatives, a satisfactory agreement was reached that allowed the rehiring of the staff in the stores.
"The Calzedonia-Intimissimi case shows that when there is a willingness to discuss and take responsibility on everyone's part," continues Ardau, "it is possible to find shared solutions that put people and respect for workers' rights at the center."
