Yesterday was another scorching day, yet another, for Sardinia, not only because of the high temperatures but also because of the sixteen fires that, in just a few hours, put the regional fire prevention system under pressure.

Five of these fires proved to be particularly insidious, so much so that they required the intervention of the Region's air fleet.

From the north to the south of the island, men and vehicles worked tirelessly to contain the flames, often fueled by the wind and environmental conditions favorable to the spread of the fire. Among the most affected areas, Olbia, Luras, Posada, Assemini and Bonorva.

One of the most delicate scenarios occurred in the countryside of Olbia, where an interface fire – that is, near homes – required a massive intervention.
