For the third consecutive year, the Stroke Unit and Neurology of the Brotzu hospital in Cagliari won the international award "European Stroke Organization Angels Awards - Gold Status" for the intra-hospital management of stroke, a serious pathology that still puts life at risk and the quality of life of many patients.

The award was presented in Lecce during the congress of the Italian Stroke Association.

"The recognition is the result of the commitment and quality of the teamwork of the multidisciplinary staff of the Neurology-Stroke Unit and of the entire hospital", comments the director of the Stroke Unit, Maurizio Melis.

The prize as "Gold Center" is assigned by the Eso (European Stroke Organization) and by "Angels", «an organization whose objective is to improve assistance to cerebral stroke by promoting and spreading good clinical practice. Good work is confirmed by the data of the national plan results of Agenas relating to the number of patients assisted and by the low mortality compared to the national average», concluded the neurologist from Cagliari.
