An appeal launched on social media was enough to attract the attention of a group of volunteers ready to commit to collecting waste deposited on the Sorso coast.

Not just any waste but microplastics, small spheres that deposit on the banks of rivers and seas and represent a real danger for marine biodiversity. They were identified at the mouth of the Silis river where a pile of plastic "beads" was found.

So armed with buckets and sieves, the volunteers responded to the "Let's collect plastic beads" initiative and collected the material from the most difficult parts of the sea. In just under three hours, 60 kilos of beads sifted from the sand were collected, a quantity that makes us reflect on the presence of pollutants dragged from the sea.

The initiative was promoted by Fabio Fish and the Facebook group “Report Sorso Sennori” and with the support of the mayor of the Municipality of Sorso, Fabrizio Demelas, it was possible to organize the waste disposal scheduled for tomorrow, Monday 30 October, thanks to the task assigned to a specialized company.
