The 45-year-old woman, originally from Sennori, hit by a car in via della Marina, just outside Sorso, is hospitalized in the intensive care unit of the civil hospital of Sassari.

According to an initial reconstruction, the driver of the Fiat 600, a 78-year-old man (and not a woman, as initially emerged) probably due to an illness, skidded into the opposite lane before climbing onto the pavement at high speed, where the 45-year-old was walking at the time with a friend, who remained unharmed.

The car ended its run against a street lighting pole and then against a wall. In the impact it tore up the metal fence that divides via Marina from via Ponente. The woman who ended up under the car was freed by firefighters. When the 118 health workers arrived, his condition immediately appeared serious.

She was transferred to the Santissima Annunziata in code red aboard the Areus helicopter rescue. The woman suffered serious head trauma and several injuries to the rest of her body. The driver of the small car was also seriously injured, hospitalized but not in danger of dying due to chest trauma.

The firefighters have made the scene of the accident safe: the carabinieri of the Porto Torres company are working to carry out the investigations. The Fiat 600 was seized.
