He was caught red-handed while selling marijuana to a customer in Piazza del Carmine in Cagliari. A 25-year-old Gambian citizen was arrested late yesterday evening by local police during a patrol in sensitive areas of the city center.

Officers, conducting a patrol, noticed a suspicious exchange between two people. When the patrol intervened, the buyer managed to escape, but the alleged dealer was immediately apprehended without resistance.

During the search, the man was found in possession of over 50 grams of marijuana and €225 in cash, an amount believed to be the proceeds of drug dealing.

Subsequent investigations also revealed that the 25-year-old was illegally present in the country, with a residence permit that had expired months ago .

Taken to the Regional Forensic Science Office at the Cagliari Police Headquarters for identification, the young man was then escorted to the local police station, where he was placed under arrest and placed at the disposal of the judicial authorities, pending a summary trial.
