Work has officially begun, funded by the Sardinia Region's Strategic Territorial Planning Program. Through this project, the Municipality of Siurgus Donigala aims to consolidate its leading role in the Trexenta region by enhancing the area's natural, landscape, and historical-archaeological resources. The project focuses on two projects, with a total investment of €350,000, involving the Lake Mulargia area and the Cavanatzu Municipal Forest. The goal is to make these areas more attractive and accessible by promoting sports, recreational, and environmental tourism activities for residents and visitors.
The first project, called "Lake Area," concerns the area around the Mulargia lake. Work will focus on improving existing facilities to encourage water sports such as rowing, kayaking, and other activities. The project includes renovating the canoe and equipment storage building, restoring the wooden structure adjacent to the building, and building a removable floating platform to facilitate lake use. The second project focuses on the "Cavanatzu Municipal Forest," a popular green space, which will undergo interventions to improve its safety and usability. The project includes enhancing the acrobatic trails, renovating the recreational areas with the installation of benches, picnic tables, and new equipment, and improving the trail network and landscaping. The program also includes fencing the wooded area, installing informational signage for hikers and cyclists, and renovating the parking area.
These two new projects are part of a broader program, already enhanced by three interventions completed thanks to funding from the GAL STG, totaling €120,000. These works have strengthened and secured buildings such as the Multipurpose Hall and the House of Tzia Leduina, which will be part of an immersive, sensory experience of historical and archaeological significance. Evidence of the completed works is the new signage installed in front of the former middle school, the church of Santa Maria, the nuraghe, and the Domus di Zraghi. These panels feature images, descriptive texts, QR codes for further information, and Braille text for the visually impaired, symbolizing a region striving to grow in inclusiveness, culture, and attractiveness.
