The small community of Seulo mourns 63-year-old Elena Murgia, victim of an accident that occurred yesterday evening on the municipal road that leads from Villanova Tulo to Seulo.

Murgia was traveling from Cagliari - where he lived permanently - towards Seulo, his town of origin. He was behind the wheel of his small car, with a relative at his side, when around 7.30pm he decided to stop along the municipal road, probably to pick some fruit. She pulled over to the right of the road and got out of the car on a steep slope.

Tragedy came a few moments later: the car - for reasons still being ascertained and although it appears to have had the handbrake on - did not hold up.

The two women, seeing the vehicle slipping away, desperately tried to reach it to stop it : the small car picked up speed and hit the 63-year-old.

It was the victim's relative who called for help. 118 operators intervened on site but all attempts to rescue the woman were useless.
