Investigations to understand what happened last night in Cagliari, on the beach between the small port of Su Siccu and the seaside promenade of Sant'Elia, are still ongoing.
The only certainty is the death of a 16 year old boy, Mariano Olla, originally from Cagliari , but resident in the hinterland, in Sestu, for some years.
Mariano, recovered yesterday morning before 7 a.m. about ten meters from the shore, was still wearing shorts and sneakers. No signs of violence on his body.
So, a mystery, for now, that raises some questions: who was Mariano Olla with at the time of his death? Was he really one of the participants in the party with friends who wanted to take the classic end-of-the-night swim before going home? Or was he there, on the beach, with other people? And in any case, why didn't those who were with him raise the alarm?
The investigators of the Flying Squad, led by director Davide Carboni, are trying to answer these questions and are working tirelessly on all leads.
Having already identified the party participants, the agents are questioning the boys , the victim's family members and anyone else who can help reconstruct the incident to identify any responsibilities (at least for failure to help). They are working on the boy's last hours of life.
An autopsy will be performed on the body on Monday to determine the cause of death.
