Specific regional and ministerial funds also arrive in Sardinia to finance support for the right to education . The criteria and procedures for the provision of scholarships for the purchase of textbooks , solutions for mobility and transport as well as for access to goods and services of a cultural nature for students residing on the island - enrolled in secondary school, state and equal schools - have been approved.

The funds must be used, emphasizes Andra Biancareddu, councilor for public education, in compliance with the principles of integration, complementarity, simplification of administrative procedures, fairness and equal treatment.

For the school year 2022/23 (for the lower and upper secondary schools) 4 million and 150 thousand euros have been allocated to Sardinia : of these, 3 million and 84 thousand euros in favor of compulsory students and 1 million and 65 thousand euros in favor of students in the last three years of secondary school.

The maximum limit of the funds available equally among the beneficiaries, regardless of the school attended, will be 200. The Municipalities can however allocate their own additional funds, subject to the maximum limit.

“The Region intervenes to guarantee the full right to education - comments President Christian Solinas - which remains an indispensable value for us. Training is essential for the growth of our children and for the future of our island itself ”.

It will be the Region to transfer the funds to the Municipalities in order to disburse the contributions to the students.

In addition, in the 2022 Regional Budget, resources amounting to 3 million and 300 thousand euros have been allocated, except for any increases that may have to be decided when adjusting the budget, to finance the scholarships to be allocated to students belonging to disadvantaged families. who have attended primary and secondary public schools (first and second grade) during the school year 2021/2022, in possession of the admission requirements, which will present a specific application to their Municipality of residence.

Biancareddu points out that the amount of ministerial resources for the reimbursement of textbooks for secondary school students has been increased by about 41 percent compared to last year, but there are many municipalities that in past years have not been able to use the resources assigned due to insufficient requests presented by students, probably because many use the books granted on loan by the schools.

This is why the councilor proposed to increase the maximum amount of the Equivalent Economic Situation Indicator (ISEE) for access to this contribution, defining it at 20 thousand euros, so as to allow a wider audience of secondary school students to reduce expenses incurred for the purchase of textbooks.

For the regional scholarship, the commissioner proposes, on the other hand, to confirm the ISEE limit of € 14,650, so as to avoid the assignment of scholarships of low value.

As usual, the regional scholarship cannot be granted to secondary school students who have benefited from the national scholarship for the 2021/2022 school year.
