Sassari, CGIL and UIL in the streets: «Too many deaths at work»
The topic of procurement is once again forcefully relevant«The tragedy at the Suviana hydroelectric power plant, where the toll to date is five deaths, is an example of a lack of safety at work, an Enel Green Power company with which the dispute has been open for two months, where internally it presents the aspect of the outsourcing of technical activities, which we are contesting precisely because of the safety problem."
Thus the CGIL and UIL unions united in Sassari for a joint work abstention initiative to put an end to deaths at work. The theme of procurement returns forcefully current on the occasion of the sit-in which saw the CGIL and UIL organizations of Sassari and Gallura as protagonists, promoters of the demonstration in the square for the Fallen of Labor in Sassari. They joined the 4-hour strike called for the entire sector nationwide.
At the foot of the monument, CGIL and UIL of Sassari and Gallura placed a wreath of flowers in memory of those killed at work . A tribute with contents that are not only symbolic, a way to remember and reflect on yet another drama and ask for a change of direction on safety in the workplace. The prefect of Sassari, Grazia Lo Fauci and the mayor of Sassari, Nanni Campus, participated in the commemoration initiative. The secretaries of the CGIL, Massimiliano Muretti and Gianfranco Murtinu and of the Uil, Marco Foddai and Giovanni Tavera, placed the emphasis on the economic system that is creating precariousness and insecurity, which generates deaths and injuries. Other objectives are a fair tax reform and a new social model of doing business.
