Sardinian shepherds protest: "New duties and payments at a standstill, ready to occupy the airports"

They poured onto state road 131 this morning, in the Oristano area, and gave rise to three marches. About 250 vehicles, including tractors and cars, were marching, while a question was spreading among the Sardinian farmers and ranchers present: "Who will be burdened by the duties imposed by Trump?" A question that, as Gianuario Falchi, one of the leaders of the protest, together with Nenneddu Pala, of the so-called "shepherds without flags", explains, does not need many words to be understood: "We already know it". The agri-food sector, in fact, is the one most affected by the decisions taken in the United States, and Sardinia is the Italian region that depends most on exports to the American market, especially for Pecorino Romano, the island's symbolic product, made from sheep's milk.
Traffic was slow all morning on the main road that connects the south and north of Sardinia, but no blockades : the protesters were authorized to occupy only one lane , allowing all other vehicles to travel on the one left free. The convoy of tractors and cars of breeders and farmers from all over the island traveled along the Carlo Felice state road and then converged in the industrial area of Terralba , where the protest ended. The category's discontent is growing due to the failure to receive community and national prizes, awaited for months , a situation that is bringing thousands of Sardinian companies to their knees. The Region and the paying agency Argea are in the crosshairs .
"Everyone - explains Gianuario Falchi - was waiting for the famous decree that the regional councilor Gianfranco Satta announced by March , the one for 45 million, instead one for 12 million arrived . Here they are going crazy and only confusing people. As if the rest were not enough - the farmer denounces again - there was the little surprise from Argea who is sending certified emails to all the companies saying that there are anomalies and inaccuracies in the payment procedures: Satta had assured us that everything was resolved, instead we are back to square one". The protest does not stop: "We are ready to occupy the airports until we have answers from the Region - announces Falchi - For us it is a vital issue, as much as the battle for the right price of milk was".
