"What happened is shameful: we will protect Marco". The tough stance comes from Achille Foggetti, commissioner of the provincial section of Cagliari of Aism, the Italian multiple sclerosis association. It considers unacceptable the treatment reserved for Marco Altea, 44, from Cagliari, forced by illness to live in a wheelchair, who was abandoned at Palma de Mallorca airport due to flight delays, due to a missed connection on the journey between Paris and Cagliari. No assistance from the companies (Vueling and Ryanair) nor information. Left to the mercy of events.

Foggetti speaks of a "disservice of the companies, which should have provided assistance to a person with severe disability and motor difficulty, but not for this reason prevented from enjoying all forms of leisure and well-being activities".

Aism "promptly informed the legal department that it will, in the manner permitted, protect Marco Altea in the appropriate forums: our association is strongly committed to ensuring that no discrimination can harm the rights of the most fragile people in the least, allowing them equal opportunities and full social inclusion. What happened is absolutely shameful."
