We are better at separating waste, but despite this, Sardinia loses second place in the ranking of the most virtuous Italian regions: it was second in 2022, but in '23 it fell to third place . "Emilia Romagna actually rose, because in Bologna they eliminated the bins and the figure has soared, but the percentage has also risen on the island", comments Rosanna Laconi, regional councilor for the Environment. Who specifies: "Now we are at 76.5 percent of separated waste in 2023, and the year before we were at 75.8%".

It's okay, in short, even if it could be better, as always . Oristano is proof of this, the champion province of virtuous behavior in Sardinia with its 81.5% of waste sorted, while the black jersey goes to Sassari with 71.2%. Nuoro is doing well on 79.8%, Southern Sardinia has just 0.1% less, while the Metropolitan City of Cagliari sorts 78.2% of waste.

The data were illustrated this morning by Councilor Laconi, during a press conference . In the video interview she explains the positive points and assures that the waste-to-energy plants in Cagliari and Macomer will soon be operational: at Tecnocasic a fault is blocking one.
