Sardinia is currently only marginally affected by the large flows of clandestine immigration, but the wave over the next few weeks (according to the secret services there are almost 700,000 people ready to leave for Italy) could also directly affect our island.

Not only in terms of landings: in fact, the structural deficiencies on the national territory also weigh, with a reception system unable to handle such a high number of arrivals. For this reason, all regions will be called upon to do their part, including Sardinia.

In February, 142 North Africans landed on the island, all arriving from the Algerian coast with small boats capable of accommodating a maximum of fifteen people. Favorite landing place, the Sulcis.

A total of 1,467 migrants are welcomed in the structures on the island. Few compared to the rest of Italy, Sardinia - excluding Valle d'Aosta - is the Region that hosts the least according to the latest dossier from the Interior Ministry.

The migrants who landed in Italy in 2022 are 17,592, almost triple compared to the same period last year when arrivals were still held back by the pandemic.
