Sarcidano in flames, the story of a young man from Nurri: «Home saved by a miracle»

From Sarcidano invaded by fires , the first damage count already emerges.

In Nurri , the flames that started from the town reached the countryside of "Campu Maiori", where they are being contained only after the arrival of a helicopter. Here, entire land was destroyed as Mirko Vacca, a young man from the village recounts: "We managed to save my uncle's house by a miracle, but we could do nothing for the surrounding land, which was destroyed".

And again: «Unfortunately it is not the first time. Also this year we had to deal with what is a real drama». Vacca concludes: «If it hadn't been for the help of fellow villagers and friends, as well as the teams on the ground and the helicopter, the damage count would have been worse».

The scenario is ghostly, demonstrating a difficult day for the whole of Sarcidano.

Between Mandas and Serri the flames are still raging. And the story that emerges from the farmers is emblematic: «The flames are over 5 meters high, reaching the electric cables. A danger for everyone», explains one of the volunteers on the field. Soon also the arrival of a Canadair, departing from the Olbia base, ready to operate in support of the teams on the ground and the helicopter already on site.
