Villas, yachts. Factories and hotels. 217 other names end up on the European black list of Russian oligarchs and businessmen close to the Kremlin, and among them there are also several billionaires with interests in the island. Like Musa Yusupovich Bazhaev: in the latest report published by the Official Journal of the European Union which lists him as one of the more than a thousand recipients of the asset freeze, he is indicated as "president of the Alliance group", with interests in the extraction of gas, oil and metals precious.

The resort

Seven years ago, the Chechen-born tycoon bought one of the pearls of world hôtellerie: the Forte Village in Santa Margherita di Pula. The hotel is protected by an almost impenetrable corporate network, also designed to dodge international sanctions. Officially it is controlled by the Esmeralda Project, a limited liability company with roots that stretch between Luxembourg, Belize and Cyprus. The same property also controls Palazzo Doglio in Cagliari.

In the Sulcis

Oleg Deripaska, an oligarch who binds his name to the industrial giant Russian Machines, owner of the Military Industrial Company, a supplier of arms and military equipment in Moscow, has also ended up on the EU blacklist. But Deripaska is known in Sardinia for its links with the Eurallumina of Portovesme, controlled by Rusal.

The family

Also on the list are Boris and Igor Rotenberg, uncle and nephew: the former, together with his brother Arkady, is a childhood friend of Putin. His name appeared in the Panama Papers. The two millionaires own some villas in Porto Cervo and other properties.

The kidnappings

Again: Viatcheslav Moshe Kantor, a Russian businessman of Jewish origin, one of the world's leading producers of fertilizers. For the EU, Kantor (for years considered one of the most powerful Jews in the world) is a supporter of Putin's aggressive policy.

A pool of financiers has been looking after its Olbian heritage for days. There is talk of a substantial portion of Punta Lada, in Porto Rotondo, close to the Berlusconian Villa Certosa. The villas Pucci, Fabbri, Primavera (the latter belonged to Silvio Berlusconi's mother) and Dolce Drago (belonged to Paolo Berlusconi) are attributable to Kantor.
