San Vito: tourist stops to read the account statement, 38-year-old steals 250 euros from the ATM

The Carabinieri of San Vito have reported a thirty-eight-year-old local waiter with a clean record for aggravated theft.

The investigation stems from the complaint of a 52-year-old cook from Pontedera, residing in Tuscany, on holiday in Sardinia. The woman had gone to withdraw 250 euros from the ATM. However, she was distracted for a few seconds to read the account statement and at that very moment the man stole her freshly baked banknotes from the machine.

The woman just had time to see a shadow receding. So she ran to the police.

The military tracked down the 38-year-old thanks to video surveillance cameras: the image was not very clear but he was immortalized with two identified men who verified his identity.
