The most significant change compared to the original project will be parking : the pedestrian plaza in the inner ring will be gone, replaced by a mixed pedestrian and vehicular solution, which will save approximately 150 parking spaces. The idea had been in the air; Mayor Massimo Zedda had asked the city officials to evaluate this option to meet the needs of market customers and San Benedetto residents (while waiting for the private project on the site of the former Marino Cao furniture factory to be completed).

After the project review (which lasted nearly seven months), the news is now official: it was confirmed by director Daniele Olla during a meeting of the Productive Activities Committee convened by President Alessandro Cao to review the progress of the San Benedetto market redevelopment. The administration's goal is to inaugurate the new San Benedetto market between April and June 2027.
