Cagliari, Teodora from Monte Urpinu to the dog shelter: residents are demanding her return home.

For those who frequent Monte Urpino Park, her name is not new . Teodora, a large white cross between a Dogo Argentino and a Labrador, grew up right there, among the trees and paths, becoming part of the community that lives and works every day in that green oasis in the heart of the city.
Having arrived as a puppy in 2023, Teodora spent two years in a homemade enclosure set up by staff from the cooperative that maintains the park. It was a temporary shelter, waiting for the municipality to provide a safer space for her. In the meantime, however, the dog had become a familiar presence: accompanied daily by Mr. Gianni, cuddled by Mrs. Andreina, and cared for by the staff who loved her like a friend.
Then came the accident. While her human was away, Teodora attempted to climb over the fence, injuring herself. She was transferred to the Cagliari municipal dog shelter for treatment. But since then, her life has changed: today she lives locked in a kennel, far from the greenery and affection that had accompanied her until now.
A situation that worries those who know her. "A dog raised in an open and relational environment cannot be deprived of its space and bonds," explain the promoters of the petition launched recently on Change.org, calling for Teodora's return to Monte Urpino Park, the urgent construction of a safe and adequate enclosure, and, finally, the initiation of a responsible adoption process that will allow her to find a permanent family.
"Teodora is an integral part of the Park's life. Her time in the kennel risks compromising her emotional balance and character," the appeal reads. "Restoring her space means recognizing the value of the bond between animals and the environment."
