Saccargia wind farm filed with the Prosecutor's Office: "Authorizations based on unreliable data."
Civic committees call for investigations into the preparatory studies behind the projectPer restare aggiornato entra nel nostro canale Whatsapp
On Thursday, a complaint was filed with the Sassari Public Prosecutor's Office with a voluminous dossier, accompanied by documents. The civic committees against wind energy speculation, Coordinamento Gallura contro la speculazione eolica eolica e fotovoltaica (Gallura Coordination Against Wind and Photovoltaic Speculation) and Comitato Sarcidano (Sarcidano Committee), have approached the head of the prosecutors, Armando Mammone. They are requesting a thorough investigation into the preparatory studies (of producibility, anemometrics, and range risk) for the Saccargia wind farm project , because the permits , according to the civic bodies, were issued based on unreliable data . The project involves the decommissioning of all the wind turbines of an existing farm in the Nulvi and Ploaghe areas (51 0.85 MW units) and the construction of 27 new, enormous 4.5 MW wind turbines.
The Gallura and Sarcidano committees' (yet to be verified) thesis, in a nutshell, is this: the permits for the large park, adjacent to the Basilica of Saccargia, were issued based on data derived from virtual and incomplete studies. A statement signed by the president of the Gallura Coordination Committee, Maria Grazia Demontis, states: "The violations, as is now known, concern the irregularity of the study on the productivity of the new facility, namely the local wind conditions and, consequently, the forecasting of accurate and timely scenarios regarding the dangers deriving from the potential failure of the mechanical components of the wind turbines, and therefore the safety conditions of the facility itself."
Attached to the complaint is a very recent ruling from the Emilia-Romagna Regional Administrative Court (TAR) , a provision that has received widespread publicity in recent days (dated July 27). The administrative judges in Bologna have established that an approach according to which the surveys "must be carried out on site " is appropriate. This type of facility requires an evaluation of the selected sites based on "effective" and "real" wind data; a counterbalance is necessary to the inevitable sacrifice of environmental interests that the facility presupposes." The Sardinian committees are requesting that the permit requirements for the Saccargia park be verified, including with regard to safety (risk of projectile range). The verifications requested by the Gallura and Sarcidano civic committees also concern the decisions of public bodies that "despite having a supervisory role, have actually authorized the project, such as the Council of Ministers, or endorsed it through tacit consent, such as the Sardinia Region."
