The Toson d'Oro Award goes to the parents of Gaia Costa, who was hit and killed in Porto Cervo.
The twenty-four-year-old loved to parade in traditional dress during the procession for Sant'Efisio: today those clothes are worn by her motherVideo di Veronica Fadda
She loved Sardinian traditions, and Sant'Efisio was among them. Gaia Costa, from Tempio, who died at just 24 after being hit by a car in Porto Cervo last summer, proudly wore the rich and ornate Villanova habit.
Today, his photo is displayed at Cagliari City Hall, before the many faithful and devotees of the saint. On Via Roma, his mother and father, Deborah Caffiero and Alfredo Costa, visibly moved, thanked the city administration for their support and affection for the family.
Mother Deborah wears the same dress as her daughter, immortalized in a photo that shows her bright and smiling, wrapped in her beloved traditional dress. In the words of her parents, they express their love and devotion for Gaia: "Today she is with us, more than ever." At 6 pm, the parents will receive the "Golden Fleece" award in Piazza del Carmine, in memory of Gaia.
