The money is there: 200,000 euros financed by the Region. Now the go-ahead is awaited from the regional councilorship for the environment: here the municipality of Villasimius has filed the document for the restoration of the tower of Porto Giunco, one of the symbols of the Sarrabus coast. Also planned is the arrangement of the path, now bumpy, which starts from Cava Usai.

The tower is currently inaccessible. In theory, at least: because many, despite the fence and the prohibitions, continue to climb it for selfies and panoramic photos.

The municipal project, reported for the evaluation of the environmental impact of the intervention, provides for the reconstruction of the stone masonry and the static consolidation of the parapets, architraves, keys and window sills. But also the finishing of the internal and external surfaces of the walls and the remaking of the flooring. In addition to the "restoration of the staircase inside the masonry that leads to the roof terrace, with squared stones with the same characteristics as the existing ones".

In addition, " the arrangement of the external spaces through the cleaning and removal of waste materials , the positioning of an information totem in corten steel and screen-printed aluminum plate, and the construction of a safety fence in the parts to be forbidden to the public" are planned , made of debarked chestnut wood”

For lighting , "there are 4 LED lights positioned from below, powered by lithium-ion batteries that are autonomously recharged via a solar panel".
