We have been talking about the new Burcei-Sinnai-Maracalagonis road for twenty years now. The goal is to remove the mountain village from its isolation, bringing it closer to the metropolitan city. After inspections and a very long bureaucratic process, in 2018 the municipal councils of the three municipalities, with unanimous votes, had approved the "proposal of the project of technical and economic feasibility of the works". The service conference on the road was scheduled for Wednesday, temporarily suspended following the request of the Ministry of Archaeological Heritage for a documentary integration on the route studied. An archaeologist is already working on the spot who should soon complete her report to be sent to Rome.

The debate - The street was also discussed for several hours in the City Council in Maracalagonis with interventions by the councilors Fogli, Antonio Contini, Saddi, Mulleri and the mayor Fadda and the councilors Elio and Sebastiano Ghironi, Gregorio Contini, Perra and Mudu. And also in Sinnai with an interpellation presented by the councilor Aldo Lobina who asked for a less expensive solution, "since it is assumed that the journey will be reduced by only six kilometers compared to the current one". Director Roberto Loi recalled the yes to the road already expressed four years ago by the entire Board.

In a statement, Francesca Fadda says: «We have identified an alternative solution to the project. For this reason, a suspension is requested from the Metropolitan City of the service conference for all the preliminary assessments and a meeting and consultation table for the definition of a path that is shared, does not damage our agricultural, entrepreneurial and archaeological territory and does not isolate the villages on the 125. Also because there have been further changes to the proposed route of which the Municipality was not informed ». Fadda is ready for dialogue: "As always, we are available quickly, also in order not to lose funding". The minority municipal councilor of Maracalagonis Gianluca Mudu especially disputed the fact that the issue, "announced by the Metropolitan City at the beginning of April, was brought to the Council only two days before the date scheduled for the service conference: I am not aware of any upheavals in the project approved with unanimous votes four years ago ».

The "yes" - The mayor of Sinnai Tarcisio Anedda fully embraces the project. «We share its aims because it removes Burcei from its isolation, shortening the distances with the metropolitan city and creating an alternative road network in case of emergency. I agree with the design choices made in respect of the environment, because it limits itself to following the historical route of 'Sa ia dei bruceresus' between Sinnai and Burcei and because it fully preserves the archaeological remains of the area and the naturalistic riches. If Maracalagonis says 'no' to this route, the Municipality of Sinnai - adds Anedda - makes itself available to host it entirely in our territory because it can only guarantee advantages since it brings the municipal lands, formerly coussorgial, closer to the town, with new perspectives of development. I would add that the Metropolitan City has also given its willingness to build a link on the old Orientale to protect the tourist activities present ».

Burcei - «The new road - says the mayor of Burcei Simone Monni - would represent an epochal turning point for the area. A work that would open new socio-economic scenarios for the three Municipalities involved and for a part of the Metropolitan City and Southern Sardinia. As it was designed, the new road will guarantee more safety, will respect all environmental and cultural parameters. It will also be able to direct the tourist flow towards the hinterland, decongesting the coastal territory and giving way to enhance the territory for environmental and tourist purposes. It will also make it possible to make greater use of the old 125 and its magnificent villages for tourism and environmental purposes, creating an important economic impact ».
