Safer seas. The lifeguard service begins tomorrow, July 12th, along the Sinis coast . To support the lifeguards' work , watchtowers have already been in place for the months of July, August, and September.

New this year is the installation of a fourth raised station at Maimoni beach, joining those at San Giovanni di Sinis, Is Arutas, and Mari Ermi . This season, too, two lifelines will be present at San Giovanni di Sinis beach: two handholds mounted on floats and weights that serve as safety lines in case of difficulty at sea.

"This year, we renew our commitment to an essential beach safety service," says Cabras Mayor Andrea Abis. "The addition of the fourth station will ensure safety on Maimoni Beach. However, despite the Municipality's efforts and increased regional funding, the need for the region to develop a sea rescue plan is evident. This plan will include a technical hazard mapping and the definition of each coastal municipality's needs."

The total cost of the service, which will operate for 41 days, is €88,800, of which €72,500 comes from the Region and €16,300 from municipal budget funds. The service will be available every Saturday and Sunday in July, throughout the month of August, and the first two weekends in September, with continuous hours from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm.
