Even the pharmacists (employees) are angry. On Wednesday 3 June at 10:30 they will be protesting in front of the Cagliari prefecture in Piazza Palazzo. Federico Antonelli of the national Filcams Cgil will participate and will bring to Sardinia, also on behalf of the national Fisascat and Uiltucs, the united message of a protest that involves all of Italy.
The reasons for the mobilization, articulated with demonstrations in all the regions that are taking place in these days, is linked to the unavailability of Federfarma to renew the contract despite the unitary platform presented by the unions.
Over two thousand workers in Sardinia are waiting to see their work recognized: «With the health reform and the introduction of new services», explain the regional secretaries Filcams, Fisascat and Uiltucs Nella Milazzo, Monica Porcedda and Cristiano Ardau, «the collaborating pharmacists have been charged with carrying out additional tasks, and yet, faced with these new responsibilities, the employers' association persists in refusing an improvement in economic and contractual conditions».
The negotiation is blocked due to the small salary increase proposal put forward by Federfarma and considered unacceptable by the unions: «We demand respect and dignity», warn the secretaries, underlining that «the increase proposed by the employers, 120 euros, is an offence to the professionalism and competence of thousands of collaborating pharmacists».
The unions remind that this is a delicate activity, which requires clinical expertise, continuous updating and a strong focus on the person: «Today, pharmacists deal with vaccines, swabs, various tests such as electrocardiograms, they do not limit themselves to delivering a medicine but play a fundamental role in ensuring adherence to therapy, in monitoring any unwanted effects through pharmacovigilance, in providing constant support to the patient, clarifying doubts, interacting with general practitioners and contributing concretely to the therapeutic success».
Furthermore, in this sector it is increasingly difficult to find qualified personnel due to the constant reduction in the number of graduates.
