They had studied the honeymoon trip to Sardinia in great detail, the idea was to visit five seaside locations, before returning to Bratislava, the city where they work and live. But Daniel and Veronika Suttò have had to change their plans: their baby seems to want to be born three months before the natural date of birth. She has been hospitalized at the Monserrato Polyclinic since Friday with a laceration of the amniotic sac and he, by her side, does not lose sight of her for a moment.

The story

"The doctors are trying to delay the birth, now the baby weighs only one kilogram and is just 30 centimeters long", says Daniel, "Filippo, as we will call him, will have to stay for several months, at least until autumn, in the incubator and we need to find a house to be close to him, we cannot go back to Slovakia knowing that our son is in hospital ». The two bewildered newlyweds thus launched an appeal on social networks to ask for help and find accommodation not far from the hospital. "We immediately received so much generosity, the Sardinians are a wonderful people, I want to thank all those who are taking care of us", continues the young man.

“I looked in several to look for a house to rent, but the prices, also given the season, are too high for our pockets. A boy married to one of our compatriots contacted us on Facebook and perhaps he found us an accommodation in Monserrato, it seems his father also provides us with a car, they were very kind ».

The hospitalization

He was a mechanical engineer and she was a designer. They said “yes” in May: their adventure in Sardinia began on 27 July. “We hired a car to go to Tortolì, we had to stay there for four days and then move to another area - explains Daniel -. The next day my wife started having contractions, at first she didn't want to go to the hospital, but when she realized that the pain didn't go away we went to Lanusei's. Here the first therapy did not work and so the doctors decided to transfer it to the Polyclinic ».

Veronika is now hospitalized and monitored day and night in the gynecology and obstetrics department of the Monserratino hospital. “We are very tired and exhausted, but here we feel calm and safe. Of course we have to think about how to move when she gives birth, she can only stay a few days in the hospital. When the child is well we will go home and resume our lives, our jobs, but we will never forget how much this wonderful land is doing for us ».

"Thanks Sardinia"

The appeal of Daniel and Veronika bounced from one end of the island to the other, which immediately mobilized to give them a helping hand. «We chose this land for our honeymoon because, as a friend suggested to me, it is the most beautiful island in Europe and he is right. But we will definitely come back with Filippo, we want him to know the places where he was born and breathe the generosity and affection that we are breathing today ».
