A 76-year-old man is hospitalized in serious conditions in the civil hospital of Sassari, after being crushed by one of the round bales of hay (weighing 400 kilos) that he was arranging in a barn.
The accident happened this morning, around noon, in the countryside of Silanus, in the province of Nuoro, when the elderly farmer was busy with one of the operations he usually carries out this season. Suddenly a round bale fell on him and the 76-year-old was crushed.
The alarm was raised immediately at 118, with the arrival of health workers who requested the intervention of the Areus helicopter rescue.
The man, immediately transferred to Santissima Annunziata, was hospitalized for a trauma to the pelvis and a fractured spine. His life is not in danger.
