Tomorrow, at 5 pm, in the “Francesca Sanna Sulis” Library in via Pertini, there will be a presentation of a book that explores the richness of the Sardinian language through irony, history and reflection. The work is “Imortali e àterus Contus” by Giampaolo Pisu, an event that is part of the program of the “Bregungia peruna” project, aimed at promoting and enhancing Campidanese Sardinian in Quartucciu. The author, together with Maria Elena Mallei, will give life to a dialogue that will allow us to discover the nuances of a language that, like few others, tells the story of Sardinia with a mix of lightness and depth.
Pisu's stories are a bridge between the past and the present, with extraordinary characters who, speaking in Sardinian, reveal a reality that is both comical and thoughtful. With a lively and sometimes biting sense of humor, the author delves into the themes of everyday life and modernity, but also into the thousand-year history of the island, treated with a vision that amplifies the narrative force through a rich and refined language. His stories are part of a context of rediscovery and valorization of Sardinian as a tool for literary and cultural expression, revealing the potential of this language.
Giampaolo Pisu is a key figure in the promotion of the Sardinian language. An activist for the protection and diffusion of Sardinian, former municipal administrator with responsibility for bilingualism and president of the Consulta Cultura e Lìngua Sarda, the author wrote “Imortali e àterus Contus” with the intent of demonstrating that literature can be written in Sardinian. A work that goes well beyond mere narration, becoming a true tool for reflection on the island's reality, passing through the filter of humor and popular culture.
