Quality of life, Zedda: "The Cagliari area is good, but beware of the lack of children, high rents, and excessive heat."
The mayor: "The ranking data concerns the metropolitan city, and we need to analyze it. We're studying projects to combat heat islands."Per restare aggiornato entra nel nostro canale Whatsapp
"The Sole24ore ranking covers the metropolitan city of 17 municipalities, not just the municipality of Cagliari. It's undoubtedly a pleasure to be the fourth-highest metropolitan city in Italy for quality of life."
But Mayor Massimo Zedda, who leads both the Metropolitan City and the capital, is not resting on his laurels with the ranking results.
Because "analyzing the data is important for administrative action: on the one hand, there are good indicators in areas such as employment, participation in continuing education, the number of graduates, the sportsmanship index, and the sunny climate," but "on the other, we need to pay attention to the very low birth rate, rising rent prices, and how to combat heat waves and the high number of tropical nights. We are addressing these latter issues, for example, by participating in both the research and planning phases of projects, including European ones, to reduce heat islands."
Starting next year, however, everything will change, including the rankings. This is all "blame" on the Regional Council's decision, which has once again overturned the structure of Sardinia's local governments: "Starting next year, these analyses will inevitably undergo changes," warns Zedda, "because they will consider a larger metropolitan area due to the expansion from 17 to 70 municipalities."
