The unexploded device was transferred to a quarry located nearby, an area specifically circumscribed and monitored by security guards, a place chosen for security reasons where in the next few days it will be made to shine with the collaboration of the firefighters.
The 40-centimeter-long cannon device has the fuse, that is the upper part of the ammunition, still intact and presumably active. A delicate procedure that requires the evacuation of the area.
The operation, coordinated by the Prefecture of Sassari, involves the removal of the trigger with a remote mechanical extractor, the cutting of the upper part of the bomb and detonation of the cut part with subsequent blasting.
The armor-piercing bullet was found by a nature-loving photographer who, by chance, had discovered the presence of the bomb on a freshly plowed field, inside the Platamona pine forest.
