The mayor of Porto Torres, Massimo Mulas, together with the municipal administration are monitoring the situation and in particular the wind quadrant, following the large fire that, around 1 pm, hit one of the warehouses of the former Safisarda , a factory in via Pigafetta, in the artisan sector of the industrial area.

The fire completely burned the roof of one of the structures managed in past years by European Global Service, a company that produced fertilizers, then decommissioned . On the roof two workers were busy with waterproofing and securing the roof. Suddenly a spark ignited the fire that, driven by the wind, spread towards the adjacent structure. A long cloud of smoke invaded the area. The firefighters intervened promptly on site, with six vehicles, the local police, the carabinieri of the Porto Torres company and an ambulance.

The mayor has alerted the Municipal Operations Center which is ready, if necessary, to intervene with a possible emergency mayoral ordinance for the closing of windows and for the obligation to remain indoors . An act that will be issued only if necessary based on the direction of the wind. The safety and cleanup operations are still underway in the area.
