Thirty-five years ago the brutal murder of Alina Cossu, still without a culprit recognized by justice. A sensational crime event that shocked the community of Porto Torres, where the girl lived. A mystery never solved, despite suspicions, assumptions and investigations. On 10 September 1988 the body of the university student, only 21 years old, was found lifeless, stuck between the rocks along the coast between Balai Lontano and Abbacurrente.

She disappeared on the evening of September 9, when she was killed by a still unnamed assassin. When her family did not see her return home, they raised the alarm. Since then they have been waiting for justice, a continuous search for the truth, for answers as to why such a violent death occurred. Nobody then talked about femicide. But the case of Alina Cossu is part of that phenomenon which has seen dozens of murders and violence against women recorded over the years. Once the work was finished, on the evening of September 9, she informed the owner that she would be returning home. However, he will never get there. His body was discovered by a fisherman. He raised the alarm to the police and, shortly afterwards, several people rushed to the crime scene, trampling on the place where the murderer had left his footprints.

The autopsy reveals some details about the manner of the murder: Alina was violently attacked, probably inside a car. Then pushed into the water and finally strangled . On the forehead the imprint of a shoe. Suspicions fall on a worker, but everything is resolved with a non-prosecuting order issued by the investigating judge against him. The story also ends up on the television show "Chi l'ha visto?". False testimonies appear, then the case is reopened with four new suspects. In 2008, an anonymous letter reached the Prosecutor's Office. An anonymous witness said he saw Alina, on the evening of 9 September 1988, who, after walking through the centre, headed towards Via Adelasia, towards a private club where some men, including the suspects, had gathered for a dinner. The place is subjected to RIS examinations, but everything ends in nothing.

In 2011, the decision of magistrate Gianni Caria, in charge of the investigation, to exhume the body to try to detect traces of DNA under the girl's nails. Three months earlier, one of the four suspects had taken his own life. The weight of those accusations had become unbearable. Meanwhile, the results of the DNA test had not produced any results. We were groping in the dark looking for some clue that could avoid closing such a complex case. But after many beaten tracks, the pain and bitterness of a murder for which no one ever paid always remains in the hearts of those who loved Alina. Only the family, who still hopes, who seeks the truth. For those who know and have not spoken in all these years, there remains a burden on the conscience, a silence that counts as a defeat for a community that remembers that terrible assassination every year. The social page "All together for Alina" is always active on social media. Over 1,500 members hoping for a turning point. The message is clear: "The truth has no expiration date." The courage to speak means giving back a little serenity to those who loved her.
