The works of the Integrated Urban Plan for Cagliari financed with funds from the Pnrr (National Recovery and Resilience Plan) were awarded, by the deadline of 30 July, for a total of 101.2 million euros.

There are 33 projects carried out by 18 actuators (the Metropolitan City and the 17 Municipalities of the area).

The Plan has the objective of developing a series of infrastructures in an integrated way which together make it possible to promote the sustainable urban regeneration of the territory. Included are 2 interventions for the redevelopment of civic markets, 5 interventions for the creation and improvement of sustainable mobility , 18 for the creation of urban and extra-urban parks and 8 for the redevelopment of sports areas.

zComplying with the July 30 deadline is a great result of the teamwork of all the bodies involved which demonstrates how it is possible to carry out projects within the set times, even if short", comments the metropolitan mayor Paolo Truzzu with satisfaction. «PUIs are a winning scheme for the development of the territory, because we reason on a vast area scale and not on a single municipality. Even the recent Government proposal on the revision of the PNRR does not provide for a definancing of the PUI, as reiterated yesterday by the Minister for European Affairs Raffaele Fitto. I am convinced that, although it is often said that local authorities are not structured to keep up with the rules and times of the PNRR, we are demonstrating that it can also be done well in our local realities».

«We knew right from the start that we had a tight schedule and we worked to ensure that the times were respected - underlines the metropolitan councilor responsible for planning Umberto Ticca - and we will do the same for the next deadlines. The first envisages that 30% of the works will be completed by September 2024, while the commissioning of the works is set for June 2026. As regards the Metropolitan City of Cagliari, whether the resources of our PUI remain on the PNRR or whether it is decided to having them transit on state funds, the result does not change, because what matters is not the financial source but being structured to achieve the development objectives that we have set ourselves».
