The fight against plastic also stems from the hands of an artist, from the sensitivity and gratitude of those, like the non-profit organization Plastic Free, who are committed daily to fighting pollution, raising public awareness of the dangers this material poses to the environment.
On the Platamona coast in Sorso, sand sculptor Nicola Urru's workshop presents another work that represents the contrast between nature's ability to maintain the delicate balance of the ecosystem and plastic, which threatens to disrupt this cycle.
Plastic, as demonstrated by various projects carried out by the Asinara National Park, represents one of the greatest dangers to the environment. This material is still found in large quantities in the seas today, with microplastics ingested by marine animals, especially loggerhead sea turtles, often victims of these situations.
Hence the need to raise awareness among sea, beach, and coastal users. A campaign that also involves fishermen, true sentinels of the sea, which has become the site of the largest catches of nets, bottles, and plastic cups.
