Cagliari's new stadium is getting closer, at least on paper. This morning, three permanent committees (Sport, Urban Planning, and Mobility) of the Municipality discussed the draft agreement attached to the Economic and Financial Plan (EFP).

A crucial step: this is a highly sensitive and complex document, which the parties, along with their respective legal teams, have discussed extensively. A crucial step in bringing the two parties closer was the meeting held a week ago at Palazzo Bacaredda between Cagliari Calcio and the City Council. Previously, only the Economic and Financial Planning Document (PEF) had been examined by the committees, pending the finalization of the details of the draft agreement.

Now the ball is in the City Council's court: a resolution on the PEF and the draft agreement is expected this week . Then, the City Council will have to decide on "public interest" and "exercise of building rights," two points on which a favorable vote from the assembly is crucial.

Only then will the process for submitting the documents required for Cagliari's bid to the Italian Football Federation (by July 31st) for the 2032 European Championships be completed.

Second deadline, August 20th: the public tender for the contract must be announced by that date. The Federation will select the European Championship cities by September 15th. This decision must then be ratified by UEFA by October 1st.
