Very hot day on the air transport front in the aftermath of the announcement of Ryanair, which will cut flights to Sardinia due to the ceiling on fares imposed by the Meloni government decree.

In fact, today the Cagliari court will decide whether or not to suspend the merger between Geasar and Sogeaal, the companies that manage the Olbia and Alghero airports: the council has decided to challenge the merger because it would lose several fundamental rights and essentially become a spectator of the choices of others which would have a decisive impact on the life of the Sardinians.

There is another aspect on which the judges must rule. The merger of the airports in northern Sardinia, as well as the operation that should bring the Elmas airport under the control of the F2i fund, took place without public tenders. Is it legit?

Today the judges decide only whether to freeze the effects of the merger, which from September 26 become irreversible. The verdict on the merits is expected for January.

Today is also shaping up to be a day of inconvenience for those who have to fly. Cub has called a 24-hour strike by workers in the sector, Ita Airways has canceled 30 flights in Italy. None of these are in Sardinia, but it is possible that the list of suppressed connections will get longer.

In Cagliari there is also the protest of the Sogaer workers: a 24-hour strike has been called over the age-old dispute between the company that manages the airport and the employees of the maintenance unit.
