Moments of panic erupted at the Mario Paglietti Nautical Institute in Porto Torres, where, shortly before noon this morning, students sprayed pepper spray in a hallway outside the ground-floor classrooms. The air became unbreathable and irritating, forcing students and staff to leave their classrooms. Administrative staff raised the alarm and, after requesting the intervention of the security director, alerted law enforcement.

The school was immediately evacuated, leaving the gates where the 118 ambulance, firefighters, and Carabinieri officers from the Porto Torres branch responded. An Italian teacher suffering from asthma was taken to the emergency room at Santissima Annunziata. The stinging substance spread rapidly, reaching the second floor and making the air unbreathable. Symptoms were immediate for some people: severe itching of the nose and throat. A literature teacher reported rushing outside the building after feeling suspected poisoning. Several students were also treated, but apparently did not suffer any consequences.

The safety protocol was implemented immediately, leading to the complete evacuation of the building, including students, teachers, and other technical and administrative staff. The Carabinieri conducted investigations to identify the culprit, while the fire department secured the entire Lungomare school building. Fortunately, the situation returned to normal within minutes. The school principal, Daniele Taras, with the Carabinieri's authorization, ordered the resumption of classes. An ambulance remained outside to ensure medical assistance if necessary.
