The first day of summer begins with the best auspices for Sardinia. June has been a very good 20 days for tourism, thanks perhaps to the lure of the America's Cup but also to the Lonely Planet guide, which celebrated Sardinia by including it in its Best in Travel 2026.
Federalberghi Sud Sardegna's forecasts for July and August are excellent. President Fausto Mura reports "a huge number of bookings, many more than last year."
As always, many foreigners chose the island, with Germans, Spaniards, French, and English leading the way. This year, Polish visitors were also numerous, "exponentially increasing their presence."
Transportation is a sore point, and Mura is especially concerned about it with the arrival of the low season and the drastic reduction in destinations at the island's airports.
