"If there's a girl who embodies Sardinian spirit so much, I think it's her. Alessia isn't just the multi-titled champion we know, but above all, she's a girl tied to her homeland, to those values she never forgets." Massimo Onnis explains his artistic choice: creating a painting dedicated to Alessia Orro (115x90 cm, mixed media on canvas), the island volleyball player who's admired everywhere. Well, on Saturday evening at La Caletta, the work was presented to the athlete from Narbolia.

Parallelism

The multifaceted artist, born in Villacidro but living in Nuoro for decades, compares the Sardinian volleyball player to the world's number one tennis player. "Just as Jannik Sinner is a guy everyone would like to have as a friend, and every mother as a child, Alessia Orro embodies the same values," says Onnis. "Like the tennis champion, she is also very attached to her family; she never forgets her origins and the values that shaped her."

The wish

"I hope Alessia's work stays with her throughout her life and brings her good luck, just as it did for Jannik Sinner, who has won almost every Grand Slam tournament since I created a painting dedicated to him," concludes Massimo Onnis. "Or like Fabio Aru from Villacidro, who became the only Sardinian cyclist to become Italian champion and wear the yellow jersey at the Tour de France. I'm happy to have been able to meet Alessia, thanks also to the dedication of the president of the La Caletta Sailing Club, Orfeo Ruiu."
